WHO AM I?
The Philosophy
Life is about change and Art, in all its forms, has the potential to reconnect all of us with the pure source, the very simple impulse that generates everything.
My artworks and related poetries, even when depicting a contemporary image, are inspired by the timeless point which is in all things, where a colour has a new shade and a word a new meaning. Because life, and so art, is in constant evolution, we have to rediscover it all the time, every single instant we have a chance to connect with the evolutive process that we call nature.
Each one of my paintings is a unique composition of philosophy, geometry and intuition making the style recognisable at first sight – I always make sure to have the least influence from any previous artistic movement so that each work is pure in its expression without any prejudice that might affect its essence.
In my artistic path I moved from the outside (fashion design) deep into the human being (paintings), and that’s where I surprisingly found the universe.
Apart from studio artworks I also create canvases on commission and live paintings at the events with my partner/wife Anna – anyatruskolaska.art.
My Mission
My name is Davide Canepa and I am a symbolist painter born in 1979 in Genoa (Italy). Since my childhood what interested me the most was the core of each single thing. This natural attraction comes from the perception that on the surface everything changes, everything is subject to external factors which, even when very intense, has a limited spectrum. We can say that the manifested certainly influences what is around and inside us, but has to be considered the end, the final part, of a process. However at the root there is an immense, silent power that is immutable and moves the entire life, this is valid for all living organisms. The old masters were referring to this subject in many different ways according to the time and culture in which they were living, but the point is the same as the human condition and its more important task remains unchanged in its essence.
Back to my life I grew up in an environment where using the hands was necessary for the survival of the community, and this detail certainly had a very strong impact on who I am and what I do today. The only difference is that I work on the spiritual realm through art. Instead of the physical tools necessary in the material world I dedicated all my life to the use of symbols, the tools which act directly on the human psyche and not only, they actually serve as a language, a code to be more precise, that works on the thin line between conscious and unconscious. This language is a very human virtue, our only way of survival in the new world.
Living in different countries helped me to understand better human condition from different angles. I started painting at the age of 30, so it has been a mature choice, or rather vocation, and since then I have exhibited my artworks in many European cities and always more paintings are now part of private collections all over the world.
My canvases have to be seen in real life, unframed, and that’s why I exhibit and paint them live, it is like the difference between watching a picture of the ocean or swimming in it.

Of course the most difficult but essential task is working on ourselves, my mission is to keep the centre and unify the opposites in the never ending cycles of live.
