Every time the masses venerated an image, an ideal, with time it turned out to harm them. It didn’t matter what the symbol was or who was representing it, or the words written in the specific saint books, or the origin of a particular doctrine.
People didn’t understand what lied behind all that appearance and always ended up identifying themselves with the visible, limited and temporary expression of it.
Symbols, rituals, uniforms and colours were constantly changing but the influence on crowds was always the same.
It all changed with the new sun, when they learned how to discern the unwritten and unspoken authentic reality, and that only as aware individuals they could create a wise society.
